VOTM Interviews: Judah

Voice Of The Metro: Introduce yourself to the world.

Judah: Judah aka Mr. In High Demand.

VOTM: So for the people that aren’t familiar with the name and the person that IS Judah, give them some history on you.

J: Been producing for 9 years. Worked with Pastor Troy, Wale, UCB, Tabi, Cormega, Rell (from Roc-A-Fella Records), Turk, D-12, and some others. Born in NE, raised in Capitol Heights and Suitland, but I live in my own world! The studio I own has been in business for 9 years too.

VOTM: So, now that we got a little bit of history, what’s happening with you nowadays? What projects you got coming up?

J: Just progressing musically. I’m taking music theory classes, getting my sounds together and just getting ready for a big push musically. Got Tabi on deck, Marky on deck, Wale on deck, Shareefa (from DTP) on deck, and others. I don’t like talking ’til it’s done.

VOTM: True true. Shoutsout to Marky…stay on that grind, brotha. Lyriciss x Marky collab on my next mixtape (shameless plug lol). So being that you’re a strong figure in this DMV hip-hop scene, how do you feel about the recent surge of attention on this area and the progress of the music scene here?

J: Love it! Its a good time to be from the DMV!

VOTM: Indeed, it is. I can remember the days of you having commercials on channel 80, so the next question is, what do you think took this long for the area to get this shine, when we HAVE had somewhat of an underground movement going for years (Section 8 Mob, etc.)?

J: The understanding of being different in the market place and not sounding like ATL or Houston. The cats that are winning from the DMV don’t sound like they’re from other cities

VOTM: So, out of all of the artists you worked with, beats you’ve made, and songs you’ve produced, do you have a favorite?

J: Nah. I don’t even listen to the record I’ve done after I do them!

VOTM: Word? I don’t blame you…it makes you rethink it, which is never good with music. So now we get to the DMV section of the questions…favorite go-go band?

J: NorthEast Groovers

VOTM: Favorite carryout?

J: I don’t eat that garbage! (laughs)

VOTM: (laughs) Man…I’d put it down if I could…it’s addictive. Favorite clothing store?

J: None

VOTM: Name some of your favorite artists out of the area, as many as you’d like to name.

J: No favorite! All artist are equal until they make history and that’s being successful on a major label.

VOTM: Hmm…how about I rephrase it…are there any artists that you like and stand out to you?

J: Hmmm. Too many to name there’s a lot of creative youngins coming up.

VOTM: I can dig that. Well, this is the closing of the interview. Thanks for your time, joe. Keep making that fire and hold it down for the DMV? Any last words for the people?

J: Stay creative and positive ’cause that’s what wins in the end!
